Looking for the underground entrance

mount shasta pluto's cave paranormal

Just north of Mount Shasta, hidden beneath the volcanic landscape of Northern California, is a place that feels like it belongs in another world. *Pluto’s Cave.* The cave is a massive lava tube created by volcanic activity in the Mount Shasta region. Portions of the underground passage have collapsed over time, leaving enormous openings in the earth that lead into dark chambers and tunnels below. It was documented by settlers in 1863 and named after Pluto, the ancient god of the underworld. But around Mount Shasta, a cave is rarely just a cave. For more than a century, the mountain has been surrounded by stories of hidden tunnels, mysterious beings and an underground civilization connected to the legendary lost continent of **Lemuria**. The Mount Shasta Lemurian legend became popular through occult writings in the late 1800s and early 1900s. One of the most influential was *A Dweller on Two Planets*, attributed to Frederick Spencer Oliver, which described mysterious beings associated with Mount Shasta and passages leading deep inside the mountain. Later writers expanded the story even further. Eventually, that underground world became known as **Telos**. According to modern versions of the legend, when Lemuria was destroyed thousands of years ago, survivors escaped into Mount Shasta and constructed a massive subterranean city. Telos is often described as a technologically and spiritually advanced civilization hidden beneath the mountain, sometimes called the **City of Light**. The Lemurians themselves are usually described as unusually tall, humanlike beings with long hair and white robes. Stories around Mount Shasta claim they have occasionally been seen walking along isolated roads, disappearing into the wilderness or entering places where no obvious entrance exists. And that brings us back to Pluto’s Cave. Among believers and paranormal enthusiasts, Pluto’s Cave has sometimes been suggested as one possible entrance into the legendary tunnel system beneath Mount Shasta. Some versions claim the visible lava tube is only the beginning and that blocked or hidden passages continue much farther underground. Others believe the entrance to Telos isn’t entirely physical at all, but some kind of energetic or dimensional doorway that can only be accessed under the right conditions. There are also stories of people visiting the Mount Shasta area specifically to meditate, search for portals or attempt to make contact with the supposed inhabitants beneath the mountain. None of this has been scientifically verified. Geologically, Pluto’s Cave is a lava tube, and there is no archaeological evidence proving that Telos or a surviving Lemurian civilization exists beneath Mount Shasta. But the landscape certainly helps keep the legend alive. You walk down into Pluto’s Cave and daylight quickly begins disappearing behind you. The temperature drops. Sound changes. Massive walls of volcanic rock surround you. Ahead is nothing but darkness. And somewhere beyond that darkness, the tunnel eventually becomes impassable. Maybe that’s all there is. Collapsed volcanic rock and another strange chapter in Mount Shasta geology. But when you’re standing underground beneath one of the most mysterious mountains in California, surrounded by stories of hidden cities, strange beings and tunnels supposedly extending into the unknown… it’s pretty easy to understand why people have wondered for generations: *What if Pluto’s Cave isn’t just a cave?* *What if it’s a doorway?*
